Citation is not the same as mention
Being named in the prose and being linked as a source are different outcomes with different fixes. A brand can be recommended without a link, or cited as a reference while a rival gets the recommendation. Tracking them separately tells you whether to earn a mention, a link, or both.
See who influences the answer
For each prompt, Answerly lists the domains the assistant drew from. The path to being cited often runs through third-party sources the model already trusts — directories, review sites, industry press, community threads — rather than through your own site. You cannot target those sources until you can see them.
Turn gaps into a backlog
When a rival is cited and you are not, that prompt becomes a concrete task: improve the on-page answer for it, or earn a presence on the sources the model uses for that query. Every gap links to the raw answer, so the backlog is evidence-backed rather than assumed.
Coverage differs by engine
Perplexity and AI Overviews are citation-heavy; other surfaces expose sources less consistently. Answerly records what each engine actually returns and never invents a source to fill a gap — an empty source list is reported as empty.
Track your own cited pages
When your site is cited, you can see which specific pages get pulled in and for which questions. That tells you which format the model finds citable, which is usually more actionable than a site-wide citation rate.
Proof for every citation
Each recorded citation links to the captured answer with the engine and date, so a claim like "Perplexity cites us for this question" can be opened and checked instead of taken on trust.
